WHAT IS GRE?

The (GRE) Graduate Record Examinations Program is managed by Educational Testing Services (ETS), which administers the GRE General Test and GRE Subject Tests.

The GRE is a test in English required by many American universities for postgraduate studies. The test will be conducted all around the year. If you make the test more than once, the admissions committees will take the highest marks to your account, depending on the policy of each university.

THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TWO TYPES OF GRE?

There are two types of GRE: 
  1. GRE General Test 
  2. GRE Subject Tests. 
Typically, speaking of GRE, referring to the GRE General Test. This test, unlike the GMAT is 100% adaptive (CAT), has both adaptive and non-adaptive sections sections.
The GRE General Test measures Verbal, Quantitative and Analytical skills they possess and that are not related to a particular area of study. The questions are multiple choice and are designed for students to demonstrate their knowledge acquired over many years.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE GRE EXAM?

You can make an appointment for the GRE by phone or internet. The GRE General Test cost is around $190.

The ETS registration center for all European countries are in the Netherlands. To examine in Spain, you have to call the Netherlands to check the dates of examinations and appointment. You will be given an appointment confirmation number, test date, time and address for submission of examination center. They will also tell you what you should bring identification with you to the test center. You will need a credit card to pay the exam fee (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).

 Also, one can register online for the "computer-based test" GRE. The online registration service provides the opportunity to enroll in real time. That is, when you sign up online, the term reserves at that time. At the end of the session online registration, exam date, center, a confirmation number and confirmation that it has processed the credit card number will be received.

WHAT HAS TO BE DONE ON TEST DAY?

First, it is essential to get to the center you have chosen with at least 30 minutes in advance. Bring your ID card or passport, and any other documentation that you have specified when you enrolled. You'll have to fill out a form to indicate the colleges to which you want your test results are sent. Each university has a 4-digit code (see www.gre.com to query the Institution Code List). WHAT IS THE TEST STRUCTURE OF GRE?

The GRE General Test is written on computer. Before the test starts, you will have the opportunity to carry out a series of tutorials that will teach computer all necessary knowledge of the computer you're using to do the exam.

Most sections of the GRE are adaptive, which means the more you answer accurately the level of difficulty will be increased  parallely . The first question will have a medium level of difficulty. The difficulty of the question depends on whether the first contests correctly or incorrectly.

However, the test is not purely adaptive (CAT) but "Multi Stage Test (MST)," which is a variant that includes adaptive questions that you can not go back once a question is answered, and non-adaptive questions to which you can return as the test progresses. The final score is based on a combination of the number and difficulty of the questions answered correctly and incorrectly, and the total number of completed questions.

HOW MANY SECTIONS -The GRE Is Divided?

The GRE is divided into Three sections:

Verbal : 

30 questions to answer in 30 minutes.
The verbal section tests your ability to analyze and evaluate texts, synthesize information, analyze the relationship between the components of a sentence and recognize the relationship between words and concepts.

Quantitative : 

28 questions to answer in 45 minutes.
The quantitative section tests your basic math skills and understanding of basic mathematical concepts and your ability to quantitative reasoning. The areas that make up the content of the quantitative section are: arithmetic, geometry, algebra & analysis.

Analytical : 

2 essays to write in 75 minutes.
The analytical section measures your ability to understand structured sets of relationships, analyze and evaluate arguments, assumptions and identify key issues and draw logical deductions.

WHEN WILL I GET MY SCORE?

Unofficial scores appear on your computer immediately after the test. An official report card will be sent by email and institutions have designated about 10-15 days after the test.

CAN YOU USE CALCULATOR?

You may use a calculator that will appear on the screen.

What Universities Should You Prefer?

There is no note of 'approved' for the GRE. Colleges, universities and business schools expect higher or lower depending on your prestige scores and degree of selectivity. You should contact the institution to which it will apply which require GRE score or the average score that tend to draw students admitted.

HOW LONG WILL MY SCORES VALID?

Your scores are valid for 5 years.
